Kansas versus Michigan St March Madness College Basketball

Time: 9:35PM ET TV: CBS

Michigan St opened as a 1-point favorite against Kansas and the early betting saw the money on the Spartans as they sit as a 2-point favorite. The total was sent out by LVSC at 136 and the sports bettors have bet it up as the over under currently sits at 138 ½. The Kansas Jayhawks are a very good shooting team hitting on 47.8% of their shots ranking them 21st in the nation. The Jayhawks are also a top tier defensive club allowing a mere 38.2% shooting and ranked 5th nationally. The teams met on January 10th at Michigan St with the Spartans winning 75-62 as a 6-½ point favorite. Kansas was held to a shooting percentage of just 40%. Kansas coach Bill Self is 7-1 in revenge games after suffering an in season loss to an opponent. Michigan St beat Robert Morris in round 1 and USC in round 2 of the NCAA Tournament. USC was a hot and finally a healthy team entering the tournament and considered a dark horse by many. Michigan St’s physical style was impressive in the Spartans win over the hard trying Trojans. The Big 10 regular season champions have the experience advantage in the interior. Kansas has only 2 impact players contributing from the last years NCAA Tournament. Kansas center Cole Aldrich played very well in the opening 2 games which includes a triple double against Dayton but now the 6 foot eleven center will face a team very strong in the middle. Aldrich was 4 of 9 from the field and had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the Michigan St loss. In two months the Kansas Jayhawks went from being unranked in the top 25 to #3 in the nation. The key to Kansas’s success in the sweet 16 will be to create shots for the big man Cole Aldrich because he makes 60% of his shots. Expect Michigan St coach Tom Izzo to clog the middle and force Kansas into a jump shooting team.
