USC was a hot and finally a healthy team entering the tournament and considered a dark horse by many. Michigan St’s physical style was impressive in the Spartans win over the hard trying Trojans. The Big 10 regular season champions have the experience advantage in the interior. Kansas has only 2 impact players contributing from the last years NCAA Tournament. Kansas center Cole Aldrich played very well in the opening 2 games which includes a triple double against Dayton but now the 6 foot eleven center will face a team very strong in the middle. Aldrich was 4 of 9 from the field and had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the Michigan St loss. In two months the Kansas Jayhawks went from being unranked in the top 25 to #3 in the nation. The key to Kansas’s success in the sweet 16 will be to create shots for the big man Cole Aldrich because he makes 60% of his shots. Expect Michigan St coach Tom Izzo to clog the middle and force Kansas into a jump shooting team.
